Privacy Policy

Caldera Music is built with privacy in mind. We don't run analytics, we don't profile you, and we don't sell or share your data. The only data the app sends off your device is what's needed to make the app work.
Plex
When you sign in, Caldera Music authenticates with Plex
(plex.tv) and
streams music and metadata directly from your own Plex Media
Server. Your Plex credentials are handled by Plex's standard
sign-in flow. Caldera Music never sees, stores, or transmits your
username or password. Your use of Plex is governed by
Plex's Privacy Policy.
Cross-device sync
So that your customizations follow you across every device you use Caldera Music on, the app syncs a small amount of preference data to a server we operate:
- Your home screen layout
- Which MilkDrop visualizer presets you've favorited or hidden
This data is keyed to your Plex authentication token. We don't issue our own account, we don't ask for your name or email, and we don't link this data to any other identifier or share it with anyone. We use it only to send your preferences back to your other Caldera Music devices.
If you don't sign in to Plex, none of this data leaves your device.
Local network
When multi-room playback is enabled, the app exchanges presence and timing messages with other Caldera devices on your local network. This traffic stays on your network.
What stays on your device
Audio caches, album art, settings, your last listening session, and recent in-app log entries are stored only on your device. You can clear them via Settings → Storage → Clear Caches, or by deleting the app.
What we don't do
Caldera Music does not run analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs. We do not track what you listen to, search for, or how long you use the app, and we do not share or sell data to anyone.
Deleting your synced data
Email elan@caldera.homes with the Plex username you sign in with and we'll remove your synced preferences within 14 days.
Changes
Material changes will be announced in the app's release notes and reflected in the date at the top of this page.
